Why Bronze is Perfect for Your Contemporary Project, Part 2

PART 2 : FLUSH & SLIDING DOOR SOLUTIONS

Our last post featured Sun Valley Bronze's materials, and how bronze doesn't have to look or feel antiquated. In fact, we at Index-d love specifying it for modern and contemporary projects!

Now, we're presenting sleek and minimal sliding, pocket, and flush door hardware eye candy.

Just a taste of SVB's extensive modern bronze Flush Pull offerings in many of their dynamite living finishes. They feel as great as they look.

Our Favorite Flush Solutions

Sliding and pocket doors have been around for a long time but have never gone out of style. Because of new and innovative sliding and pocket door hardware, like ones made by Sun Valley Bronze, we are seeing and spec'ing flush hardware in refreshing ways.

The above FEP-T4 Edge Pull with Tab, for instance, was created to combine the function of a Flush Pull and Edge Pull in a single piece of hardware. This is a clean solution for passage pocket and sliding doors.

The FEP-210 Double Flush Edge Pull was originally created from the FEP-110, a cabinet pull. It has since become a favorite for pocket doors, and depending on the application, can be used on swing doors, too.

The SQFP-358 Squash Court Flush Pull sits flush in the door but features a pull out handle for easy accessibility. This piece can stand alone or activate a mortise lock for a passage swing door function.

Why Bronze is Perfect for Your Contemporary Project, Part 1

PART 1: THE MATERIAL

Bronze has been used as both a structural and decorative element for thousands of years (!), which is perhaps why it is sometimes regarded as "original" or "traditional".  But bronze isn't exclusively pitted, textured, and aged. It can also be seamless and refined.

Lucky for us at Index-d, we spec bronze for even the sleekest of projects, and we owe that to Sun Valley Bronze. The Idaho-based foundry manufactures hardware that caters to our Modern, Contemporary, and Minimalist-style projects.

In this blog, we'll show you examples of some our favorite contemporary SVB pieces, teach you more about their offerings, and explain how we can deliver them.

SVB Finishes

We'll begin with what's on the surface. When it comes to finish, one might consider stainless steel, chrome plate, or powder-coated finishes as obvious contenders for modern-leaning specifiers. However, Sun Valley Bronze offers a variety of beautiful living finishes for white (W) and silicon (S) bronze, both of which are well suited for contemporary projects.

Think of W1 as a more dimensional alternative to stainless steel, or W3 as a nuanced version of satin black. S1 is a stunning, subtler option for a satin brass spec, and S3 is a dynamic version of Oil Rubbed Bronze. W2 and S2 are somewhere in between, and raw (W and S) and polished (WP and SP) finishes grant unique options across the board. BONUS: Aside from the finish, bronze is an antimicrobial material. Pefect for getting your hands on!

A Curated Collection of SVB Cabinet Hardware

Though we can supply any of Sun Valley Bronze's hardware, we feature a slimmed-down, curated collection on our website

Not surprisingly, many of these exist within Sun Valley Bronze's "Contemporary" collection. Still, we've narrowed down their entire cabinetry hardware collection with a few design details in mind:

  • Minimalist - simplicity is beautiful!

  • Refined - elemental hardware with clean lines to complement a modern-leaning aesthetic

  • Versatility - choose one style, get many size options!

  • Originality - many designs are one-of-a-kind to fit with your interesting and innovative project

SVB Quick-Ship Program

Because Sun Valley Bronze hardware is hand-cast and made to order, lead times are longer than standard, mass-produced and machined hardware. Thankfully, over the summer Sun Valley Bronze launched their Quick-Ship program.

This program offers their most popular cabinet pulls and knobs with a lead time of 4-6 weeks (plus transit time).

Whether its from their quick ship program, extensive full catalogue, or an original, custom piece, Sun Valley Bronze provides unique, luxurious and seamless hardware solutions fit for your contemporary project.
